Summer School 2021: Inheritors of ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s Mission

“We, the children of the Master, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, are the inheritors of His mission. What remains for us is to do our part, to exert every effort to share the divine message with our fellow citizens and to invite them to join hearts and hands with us in the glorious work of reconstructing society to a new design founded in spiritual truth.”

June 3, 2021 NSA Call to Action

The Colorado East Baha’i School invites your community, family, study circle, Junior Youth group, and/or children’s class to join an exciting month-long immersion into the life of ‘Abdu’l-Baha and his example of race amity, during this Holy Year.

  • Curriculum for all ages provided upon registration, including resources and art ideas.
  • You are invited to set aside or supplement your existing curriculum or group for four weeks. (For example, a study group may devote 30-60 minutes each week to this study, a children’s class may use this curriculum in lieu of their normal lesson plans, or a new group of friends may gather weekly to study the lessons together.)
  • Friends and families are encouraged to create groups for this study, coming together once a week for the month.
  • Virtual or in-person study – whatever is best for your group!
  • Work through the material at your own pace.

Mid-August to mid-September STUDY – Community, small group or family study of the provided material, including delving into stories of ‘Abdu’l-Baha and his work on Race Unity in America.

September 25 CELEBRATION and COMMUNITY GATHERINGS: Join us for a special day of celebration, coinciding with the anniversary of ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s visit to Denver in 1912. Gather with your group or community virtually or in-person, and join the statewide Zoom celebration. See the tentative schedule & details here.

Community Visits: During the September 25th festivities, there will be opportunities for virtual “community visits” with each other. We encourage you, your family, study group, children’s class, or JY group to sign up to host a virtual community visit! Multiple community rooms will be hosted at the same time, allowing us all to visit, share our learnings & art, and socialize with others from around the state.

We recognize this is not our traditional Summer School but invite you to join us on this path of discovering new ways to collaborate, learn, teach and strengthen our bonds of love.

Ahead of you lie times of trial and promise, of hardship and progress, of anguish and joy. Under all conditions, the Master is your solace and support. For those who aspire to lasting change, His example guides the way—tactful and wise in His approach, penetrating in utterance, indiscriminating in fellowship, unfailing in sympathy for the downtrodden, courageous in conduct, persevering in action, imperturbable in the face of tests, unwavering in his keen sense of justice. And to all who arise to emulate Him, He offers this unfailing assurance: “That which is confirmed is the oneness of the world of humanity. Every soul who serveth this oneness will undoubtedly be assisted and confirmed.”

Translating Thoughts into Action: Walking Together on a Path Toward Race Amity

Only if the efforts to eradicate the bane of prejudice are coherent with the full range of the community’s affairs, only if they arise naturally within the systematic pattern of expansion, community building, and involvement with society, will the American believers expand their capacity, year after year and decade after decade, to make their mark on their community and society and contribute to the high aim set for the Bahá’ís by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá to eliminate racial prejudice from the face of the earth.

Friends and Family Encouraged to Attend!
“Walking Together on a Path toward Race Amity and Oneness” is a program created by a task force appointed by The National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States (including a member of the Continental Board of Counselors) and is being studied at Seasonal Schools across the country.

This inter-generational program brings families and communities together to study how race amity is an integral dimension of building community, gain new insights on addressing racial prejudice, and create action plans to carry forward this conversation in our daily activities.

In an atmosphere of openness and joy, conversation on difficult matters becomes possible and constructive.

Together we can build communities that are havens of unity!

The Baha’i schools are open to everyone. Families of those attending children’s classes, Junior Youth Groups, devotions and study circles are especially encouraged to attend this community-building weekend!

“Freedom from racial prejudice, in any of its forms, should… be adopted as the watchword of the entire body of the American believers … It should be consistently demonstrated in every phase of their activity and life … It should be deliberately cultivated through the various and everyday opportunities, no matter how insignificant, that present themselves.”

Shoghi Effendi, The Advent of Divine Justice

This school will be a celebratory sharing of experiences, reflections and learning as we focus on raising consciousness of our interactions with others, whether similar or different from ourselves. We will be studying recent guidance and connecting to the third prerequisite of success, the Elimination of Prejudice, described by Shoghi Effendi in The Advent of Divine Justice.

Come join us for a weekend of devotions, conversations, deepening, and fellowship. A special invitation goes out to youth, junior youth, children and their families!

Registration begins at 4:30 pm on Friday night followed by dinner. The program will begin at 7:00 pm.

Programs created for adults, youth, junior youth & children. Nursery & parent space for theme related discussions.
