Update on Summer School Cancellation

Dear Friends: It was with great difficulty and much sadness that the committee decided on June 27th to cancel this year’s Summer School because of the immediate and nearby crisis of the Waldo Canyon Fire. Although it was a difficult decision, we feel confidant that it was the right decision due to the uncertainty of the situation, the potential health & safety risks, and the impact of the fire on numerous area Baha’i families. The committee has recently met again and decided there will not be a rescheduling of the School this summer due to a lack of time and resources to get it planned and the unavailability of the facility.

The Schools Committee Treasurer will be refunding all monies paid towards the Summer School within the next week. . If you do not see your refund come through or have any questions about this process, please contact the Treasurer at treasurer(at)coloradobahaischool.org.

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Winter School at the YMCA of the Rockies near Estes Park. Please mark the dates on your calendar ~ January 11-13, 2013. We hope to see you all there!

Thank you all for your patience and prayers!

SCHOOL CANCELLED

Due to the fires in the Colorado Springs area, the numerous attendees affected, and the potential health & safety hazards, the Schools Committee has decided to CANCEL SUMMER SCHOOL this coming weekend. More details are coming about rescheduling and the status of deposits.

Updates & Reminders – Summer School 2012

Several attendees have expressed concern about the wildfires happening in the southern Colorado area. The largest fire in the area of the Summer School site is about 25 miles away and posses no threat at this time to the school. Be assured that Summer School will still be held as planned, but that attendees should take appropriate precautions since the air quality due to the fire is poor in some areas of Colorado Springs. This means that attendees with Asthma should bring inhalers, attendees with allergies or sensitivities should bring appropriate medications and reduce outdoor exposure.

A few other reminders:

All children, Junior Youth & Youth who are attending without their parents: Make sure to download all the required forms and have your parent/guardian sign (and bring them with you to the school!).

Those with special dietary needs or coming with infants/toddlers: The main hall does have refrigerator and you may be able to store milk, medication, etc. as needed. Please make sure items are well marked with your family name and be considerate of the limited space.
